"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" Has Already Made History

Marvel recently announced that the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be the first feature film shot on the ground-breaking WEAPON 8K VV®. After rigorous testing, the production team decided to shoot the follow-up to their 2014 summer blockbuster on RED's WEAPON camera system complete with an 8K RED DRAGON® sensor.

"Given the enormous success of the first movie, we know first-hand how critical their team was in selecting a camera for the second installment. The WEAPON 8K combines the intuitive, compact form factor of the WEAPON camera body with the impressive color science and dynamic range of RED's largest camera sensor to date. The 8K WEAPON captures images in 8K at 75 frames per second (fps), 6K at 100 fps, or 4K at 150 fps in REDCODE RAW®.

Shooting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 begins in early 2016, with an anticipated theatrical release date of July 28, 2017. RED is proud to support Marvel on their upcoming production, and looks forward to seeing the final product.
