RED DRAGON Arrives at Photokina
September 15th, 2014

On September 16th RED will visit Photokina for the first time, showcasing the stills-from-motion capabilities of the revolutionary 6K DRAGON sensor. Boasting over 19 megapixels, a new color science and higher dynamic range, the DRAGON sensor takes both EPIC and SCARLET to the next level—blurring the line between motion and still cameras.

RED is not only breaking new ground in photography image capture—with DRAGON receiving the highest DxO Mark sensor rating ever _ it is also offering more tactical options for photographers. The newly reworked REDCINE-X PRO provides RAW workflow and now features frame tagging, so shooters can mark and access specific frames while shooting. Also new within this version of REDCINE-X PRO is A.D.D. (Advanced Dragon Debayer), a new algorithm for DRAGON that careful analyzes every pixel to create the best frame possible.

During the first four days of Photokina, RED will host a fashion show featuring L Space Swimwear. This live fashion shoot will highlight the stills-from-motion capabilities of the EPIC DRAGON and feature real-time Epson image printing straight from the runway footage. The show will occur at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm each day in the RED booth, with demonstrations on how to pull stills-from-motion following each show.

Each day at 2pm RED will host seminars led by professional photographers at the booth. Kicking off the series on the 16th, beauty and fashion photographer Ulf Krentz will speak with guests about his experience shooting Stills From Motion with the EPIC DRAGON. The following day, Aaron Lieber will discuss how he uses the EPIC DRAGON to score the best actions shots of surfers worldwide.

Michael Naijar—the world's first artist to be invited by the U.S. Air Force to perform a HALO skydive—will be at the RED booth on Thursday showcasing his techniques. On the 19th Henrik Sorensen will speak about how the EPIC DRAGON helps him blend technical precision with subtle artistry. The next day, Photographer and Director Steven Langmanis will discuss his work shooting fashion at 120fps with the EPIC DRAGON. And on the 21st John Marchant will discuss pulling Stills From Motion using the first EPIC DRAGON ever delivered to Europe.
