RED and The Berrics Partner for REDirect
April 6th, 2014

RED and The Berrics are proud to announce REDirect, a competition and short film festival showcasing twelve of the most renowned skateboarding filmmakers in the world.

Over the next three months, The Berrics will publish twelve different short films shot using custom created packages provided by RED. The contestants have been kitted with all components needed to shoot on RED, including a EPIC MYSTERIUM-X, DSMC Ti Canon Mount, RED Touch 5.0" LCD screen, and REDMAG 1.8" 128GB SSD. Judged by a panel, the contestants will be scored in three categories: "Best Still Shot," "Best Continuous Shot", and "Best Short." The winner will get to keep the fully loaded RED EPIC camera system that they used to shoot their videos.

Blown away by the EPIC's customization, portability, and ease of use—the filmmakers are able to capture shots that simply aren't possible on other cameras. After having some hands-on time and realizing the potential it unlocked for his filmmaking, Russell Houghton wishes he had made the switch to RED sooner:

"I've used a wide range of cameras throughout my years of filmmaking, and I wish I'd only used one camera the whole time, which is the RED."

Fans will be able to vote for their favorite short on The Berrics' website with the winner of the fan-favorite vote receiving a MoVI stabilization unit.

The first short will premiere on The Berrics' website on April 7th, with new videos coming out every week after that. Throughout the competition, RED will be showcasing our own Behind the Scenes series documenting the creators and their experiences on REDirect.
